Lets face it, I've pretty much done everything you can possibly do to your hair. I had long hair, short hair, I've been every color from blonde to blue.
A few months ago I decided to change up my hair a bit. After my divorce in 2015 I did what most women do when they are going through an emotional situation, I chopped 13 inches off my hair. I mostly did it out of spite because my ex-husband always told me I shouldn’t cut my hair short. I sure showed him, right?
A few years later I really started to miss my long hair. I decided to try micro bead extensions. My sweet stylist, Niniveth, only gives me the best service so it was only natural for her to provide me with the highest quality hair extensions. Dreamcatchers hair extensions are 100% human remy hair, silicone free, and so easy to style. Before my appointment I did the STUPIDEST thing…I Googled “Microbead hair extensions”, AND of course there where ALL these horror stories about people losing their hair or going bald, and I was terrified. I told myself I was crazy and I went to my appointment as planned.
I am beyond impreseed with my Dreamcatchers hair extensions. The extensions blend in so well with my natural hair.
Here are some questions that people have asked me since getting my hair extensions.
Do they hurt?: No, the first day I had them done they did feel heavy and pull a little, but I had no problem after that.
How much do they cost?: This all depends on the type of extensions, length, and your stylist. They can range from $800- $1,400.
How much maintenance do they require?: Yes and no. My extensions became very dry in the first few weeks and I was nervous I was doing something wrong. But extensions do not get the natural oils that your own hair gets from your body. You also need to consider that you need to go back to your hairstylist every 6-8 weeks to have your extensions pushed up.
Do you have to buy any special products to maintain your extensions?: Yes and no. I'm not a big hair product person, so I did purchase a few items that have helped me maintain my extensions and keep them lasting long.
To help with the dryness, I used pureology hair mask once a week and it worked WONDERS.
I also added CHI Keratin Silk Fusion to my everyday routine. I use a pea sized drop and add it to the ends of my hair to help with keeping them moisturized throughout the day.
Both of these items are affordable and I purchased them at Ulta.
Is there a special hair stylist I should see who does extensions?: YES! Hair extensions require a trained professional. My stylist has many of clients who she has done extensions on in her career. It takes a trained hand to properly attach you extensions without damaging your natural hair.
