Heres a little story of a half bathroom and one of my top favorite projects that we have completed thus far...
Since the day we moved into our home, this bathroom has been non working and in need of a lot of TLC. We have 2 other full baths and with all of the projects we started when we moved in here, we just decided to close this bathrooms door and act like it didn't exist. TWO years later we decided that it was time to see what surprises this little bathroom project had in store...
After weeks of fighting to fix a plumbing issue we thought the project would be straight forward from here, a little paint, new lights and some decor. WRONG! Aside from the village of cockroaches living in the toilet drain, we quickly discovered mold and water damage to the walls, which lead us to find black mold. We had to replace the bottom pieces of the wall and totally get rid of the vanity due to decay.
With the wall being replaced we moved on to my favorite part, design!
I didn't want this bathroom to be busy, so we had some old pieces of fencing from our backyard sitting in our garage that we decided to repurpose. Brian crafted me a chair rail and 4 rectangle frames to bring some depth to the space.
As most of you know, we favor grays, white, and blacks in our home. So, for this half bathroom I wanted to add some color. I found this deep blue that I fell in love with <3.
On the first day of this project when we started running into problems I felt emotional. I was saddened by the condition that the bathroom was left in when we bought the house. I told Brian that I couldn't understand how someone would treat such a beautiful house like this. I have an attachment to the projects we do because I feel like we are giving our home another chance to have a better life. Blessed beyond measure to be able to do these projects with my husband and build memories in our home that will last a lifetime.
Until the next project...
I love that color!!! Repurpose old fencing, thats a great idea.
